Maverick International Student and Migrant Support Trust is a government approved charitable trust, which has been established to provide support and assistance to international students and migrants that have chosen to study or settle in the Dunedin community.
Purpose
The purpose of Maverick Trust will be to provide support, education and training for all people, but particularly international students and newly arrived migrants, regarding the options for further study, employment opportunities and career development with in the New Zealand community. In particular, Maverick Trust will:
- Support and advise the Otago International Student and Migrant Support Society and any other international student and migrant groups or organizations within the New Zealand community
- Assist, promote and provide for educational workshops, seminars and events, for cultural educational and informational assimilation for international students and migrants in to the New Zealand community
- Provide additional support and assistance for each of the individual ethnic, religious and international communities within New Zealand, to promote, share, participate and enjoy their own unique cultures, ceremonies and celebrations with the rest of the New Zealand community

The governing Board of Maverick Trust is fortunate to have as its members, a selection of both business and education professionals, who provide Maverick Trust, and the other non-profit organizations it oversees, a tremendous wealth of experience, service and knowledge of the workings of the Dunedin community.
Principles
As a proactive and engaging non-profit governing organization, Maverick Trust is fully committed to the following principles:
- Respecting the dual heritage of the partners of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi)
- Maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, both with-in the Trust itself, and with all the individuals, businesses and agencies, that the Trust will work, with in the New Zealand community
- Respecting the cultural diversity of all people and encourage students and migrants from all nationalities to utilize the Trust's facilities and services
- Inspiring all newly arrived peoples, be they international students, workers or migrants, to reach their full potential in New Zealand
- Working cooperatively with other agencies, both profit and not for profit, in the international student and migrant development and support areas, while assisting these same people, the students and migrants from all countries abroad, to establish and settle themselves, with dignity and respect, within the New Zealand community.
